Antenatal depression and postnatal depression
Antenatal: A form of clinical depression that can affect a woman during pregnancy, also referred to as prenatal depression.
Postnatal: Depression that can occur after giving birth.
Anxiety Disorder
An intense form of anxiety that can interfere with the daily life of a pregnant or postpartum woman.
Perinatal obsessive compulsive disorder
Obsessions, compulsions, and anxiety that can be experienced by a woman during pregnancy or after giving birth.
Postpartum Depression (PPD)
Moderate to severe depression that can occur in a woman immediately following the delivery of a child or up to a year after giving birth.
Postpartum Psychosis
A psychiatric emergency that can occur in a woman within the first few weeks after giving birth; symptoms can include mania, depression, sever confusion, paranoia, and hallucinations.
Post-traumatic Stress Disorder
A mood disorder caused by real or perceived experiences by a woman during the delivery of a child or a parent in the postpartum period.
