What is Self Care?
Self care is defined as actively protecting one’s own well-being and happiness, in particular during periods of stress.
Self-care is a necessity, not a luxury.
We need to take time to recharge and do things that make us feel happy, healthy, and supported. If you aren’t taking time to care for yourself, please start. Even small things can start to make a big difference. Here are things to try. Find the ones that work for you in that moment:
- Be deliberate about how you spend your time
- Connect with friends
- Get outside every day
- Set boundaries
- Express gratitude
- Be affectionate
- Play
- Ask for help when you need it
- Be ask kind to yourself as you are to others
It’s hard to do these things, especially when you already feel like there are not enough hours in the day to do everything else you need to do. But it is worth it; it will make you feel better.
