Denver Great Kids Head Start

Denver Great Kids Head Start prepares preschoolers to enter kindergarten with the social, physical, emotional, cognitive skills and competencies necessary for continued school success. Comprehensive child development programs and support services are available to pregnant moms, infants, toddlers and the whole family through our Early Head Start and Head Start programs.

Douglas County GED Center

Douglas County School District opened a GED testing center in 2017 as a viable post-secondary option. Students in Colorado that pass the GED have a lot of options for applying to community colleges, trade schools, and other career opportunities. Emily Griffith High School

Emily Griffith High School is a public, alternative school located in Denver, CO providing pathways for students who choose to pursue their high school diploma or GED and post-secondary goals. An authentic curriculum, flexible scheduling, small class sizes, and robust social/emotional support serve as a springboard for students to demonstrate competency in courses while having the opportunity to simultaneously engage in college, career, and technical education programs.

NEXT: A GED Plus Program

NEXT is designed to re-engage students between the ages of 17 and 20 who have either left high school or are on the verge of dropping out. It is flexible, "Zero Dropout" initiative for students needing a high school equivalency. It offers morning/afternoon, Monday-Thursday sessions with individualized learning plans, blending in-person instruction with remote options. The program integrates career readiness, college prep, and personalized support for students, typically operating from August through June.

Community Hubs address a holistic approach to student learning through programs and services that support the social, emotional, physical, academic and basic needs of families. DPS works with each identified community to build out the services most aligned to their needs.

Forward Steps

Forward Steps is a Colorado-based nonprofit supporting under-resourced youth, particularly those with foster care experience, to achieve post-secondary education and career success. They provide financial assistance, one-on-one mentoring, and comprehensive coaching through programs like Guardian Scholars and Realizing Aptitudes.
