The Initiative

The Initiative is a Colorado-based 501(c)3 organization specializing in providing services, support, and resources to people with disabilities who are experiencing domestic violence, abuse, neglect, sexual assault, other violent crime. While we specialize in serving people with disabilities, we will work with all survivors, regardless of disability status, documentation, immigration status, sexual orientation, or identity.

Colorado Name Change Project

Colorado Name Change Project is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of transgender Coloradans by assisting them with their legal name change and gender marker corrections. Through workshops across the state, pro bono legal assistance, nonpartisan advocacy, and innovative technology implementation, we seek to make being who you truly are easier to accomplish.

Children’s Hospital Colorado: TRUE Center for Gender Diversity

At the TRUE Center for Gender Diversity at Children’s Hospital Colorado, we’re here to support you on your journey, whatever that may be. This is a safe space. We specialize in helping our patients achieve the gender expression that’s right for them. We understand the medicines and medical concerns that gender transitions involve, but we also understand the emotional challenges of gender diversity. In short, we speak your language.

Colorado Department of Local Affairs

The Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) serves as the primary interface between the State and local communities. DOLA provides financial support to local communities and professional and technical services to community leaders in the areas of governance, housing, and property tax administration.

Colorado Poverty Law Project

Colorado Poverty Law Project believes no one should experience homelessness for lack of housing justice. Our mission is to prevent homelessness through legal representation, education, and advocacy. We provide free legal advice and representation, legal clinics, know-your-rights trainings, a Mobile Home Initiative, young adult programs, and housing navigation. We also pursue systemic changes through policy and legislative advocacy at the state and local level. We serve anyone that qualifies for our services despite their legal status.

Office of the Child’s Representative: Youth Center

Colorado Office of the Child’s Representative (OCR) is committed to ensuring that children and youth have a voice in the Colorado legal system through effective attorney services, practice, and advocacy. To further this goal, OCR supports and promotes youth empowerment throughout the court process, including youth participation in court hearings and case events.

Rocky Mountain Victim Law Center

The Rocky Mountain Victim Law Center (RMvlc) is a Colorado-based non-profit providing free legal information, referrals, limited assistance, legal representation, technical assistance, consultation, training, and outreach to victims of violent crimes, including sexual assault, domestic violence, and homicide.

WomensLaw.org

A project of the National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV) that provides plain-language legal information, resources, and a confidential email hotline for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking. It covers state-specific laws on restraining orders, custody, divorce, and gun laws to help survivors understand their legal rights and safety options such as shelters.

The State of Colorado believes it is important to make information available to the public concerning ways to purchase lower-cost prescription drugs. This page provides links to websites that provide information on prescription drugs or offer programs or information on how to obtain prescription drugs for free or reduced prices.

Colorado Mental Wellness Network

We are a state-wide, grassroots, peer-run organization that seeks to provide opportunities for individuals to improve the quality of their lives, give back to their communities, and change public perceptions of mental illness. We do this by providing whole-person wellness education to people who are building a lifestyle of recovery. In order to spread this message further, we also advocate for person-centered care in traditional healthcare settings.

Perinatal Mental Health Project

Our Birth Squad takes a multi-level approach to ensuring Colorado families have the mental health resources that they need to experience wellness in the postpartum period. We support birthers and families by providing prenatal education, postpartum support groups, community meetups, provider education and training, and connection to resources.
